Unifi Access Points and Java 8

Unifi Access Points and Java 8

We recently ran in to an issue when installing the Unifi Access Points at a new location. When we would launch the desktop app after the install we would receive “This page cannot be displayed”. This should launch the web based startup for the Unifi. After a lot of research we found the below article. We learned that the software is not compatible with Java 8. If you try to install the controller with Java 8 it will not generate the Keystore that is required for the application. It also does not prompt or retry generating the Keystore. You have to initially put Java 7 on it, install the controller, run through the setup, uninstall Java 7, and then install Java 8. You also have to manually open the shortcut to javaw.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin when opening the Unifi for the first time. We had to uninstall Java, the Unifi controller, and start from scratch. After starting over we were able to successfully setup the Unifi.
