Transfer Microsoft Word to new device
This week, similar to last week, a user was upgrading to a new laptop. The user had hundreds of autocorrect setting in his old Microsoft word. He had been using these setting to shorten the amount he had to retype in repetitive legal contracts. As an example he could type jsl and it would populate Joe Smith Legal Counsel for Example Company (864) 123-1234. To transfer these settings was simple following the steps below.
1.Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Copy MS01033 file from old computer located: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office
2.Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Copy The Normal .dotm file locate the following folder: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
3.Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Paste these to the desktop of the new computer.
4.Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Navigate to the same locations if using Windows 7 and simply replace the newer files (after backing them up) with the older files you just copied to the desktop.
5.Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â Ã‚Â ThatÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s it! This transfers over all the settings from Word to the new computer.
