Is your computer freezing, locking up, or hanging at the logon screen?

I have recently come across some odd issues where users have been complaining about computer freezing, locking up, hanging at the logon screen, explorer.exe hanging, etc. recently.

After looking at log files, running different diagnostics, and going through most every troubleshooting process I know of, I finally decided to run SFC.exe /scannow.

The results came back with:

“Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.”

If you check that log, you might find a reference to these files, or something similar:

Could not reproject corrupted file [ml:520{260},l:114{57}]”\??\C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\DownloadedSettings”\[l:24{12}]”utc.app.json”; source file in store is also corrupted

If you are experiencing this, most likely the Windows 7 update (KB3022345) has been recently installed (DO NOT UNINSTALL THE UPDATE).

Go to this link, and download and run SFCFix.exe. I didn’t have to do the text file, it did it for me, and fixed the computer issues:
