Dell Printer Offline

This week I ran into a very strange issue with a shared printer. This printer is shared off of a server

over the network. The printer would continually go offline. At first I assumed the standard issues such

as: power saving settings, changed IP address, restarting the print service, but all of these did not

resolve the problem. What the issue boiled down to was a setting within the port configuration on

the Dell printer. Snmp status enabled needed to be unchecked in order to get the printer back online.

After changing these setting the printer immediately started to print. The below describes the steps in

resolving this.

1. Open devices and Printers

2. Right click on the printer and select printer properties

3. Select the ports tab

4. Select configure port under the ports tab

5. Uncheck the box that says SNMP status enabled.
